Intrauterine Insemination - Answers to Your Questions About IUIs


  
Intrauterine insemination or IUI, is used in couples who have trouble conceiving and have tried other ways to conceive.
IUI the sperm process is implanted in the uterus of a woman by a catheter. If you are curious or getting ready for the IUI procedure, you probably have many questions. Keep reading for more information you can learn to prepare for a visit to your doctor.
1. What is IUI?
   The process of IUI is the injection process of sperm into the uterus of a woman.
2. How is IUI performed?
   IUI is performed by inserting a thin catheter into the neck of a woman. Once the catheter is inserted, the washed sperm injected into the uterus. This method avoids the vagina and obstacles in the vaginal mucosa or the cervix that could interfere with conception. Usually it's a quick procedure.

   Many doctors will try a few rounds of IUI before adding drugs like Clomid or injectable. They can do more than three to four cycles with drugs before suggesting in vitro fertilization (IVF).
